Healthy nails not only contribute to your good health, but also make your hands look beautiful and noticeable. One should be extra careful in winters as cold weather can damage your nails. Cold weather breaks and chips your nail due to brittleness and dryness.

·         In winters dryness can cause brittle and dull looking nails. The nails chips and breaks easily. Applying the base coat is very important to keep your nail strong. To keep your nail strong enough always apply polish or nail hardener
·         Moisturizing your skin and nails is important in winters. Apply moisturizer or olive oil on nails and hands regularly to reduce dryness. Moisturizing your hands and nails helps them to keep healthy and glowing. Prevent chipping of the nail by applying a good herbal cream to the nails for its shine and growth.
·         Nutritional deficiencies may split the nails. A good diet, with all the essential food groups will help your nails stay strong and healthy. If your nails seem brittle, increase your calcium in your food during winter. Yogurt, plain, eggs, cheese, milk are rich source of calcium.
·         File your nails regularly. Filing helps you nail to grow and remove the imperfections from the edge of the nail. It also helps in creating a smooth surface which is important for healthy looking nails.
·         Water also depraves nails from its natural glow and moisture. Drink 8-10 glass of water even in winters to keep your body hydrated and left with natural glow.
·         Extreme temperatures like very hot or very cold can be dangerous to expose nails. Keeping nails in cold water for a long time can result in chapping of the nails. Avoid putting your hands in chilling water and always try to wash your hands in luke warm. Apply a good moisturizer with Aloe Vera every time after drying them with towel. You can take further care by wearing gloves to protect your hands and nails while washing dishes or cleaning.
·         Go for regular manicure and pedicure. Manicure and pedicure are beauty treatments for the fingernails and hands. It involves soaking the hands, cleaning, removing cuticles, applying hand lotion and moisturizing, filing and shaping the nails. Regular manicures and pedicures are important for healthy hands and nails in winters.
